Freeways lure commercial developers
Along interstates 10, 17 and the Loop 101 are the places to be in the West Valley as commercial developers follow the rooftops and build office and industrial space.
Ryan Cos. U.S. Inc. was one of the first builders out that way when it started Ryan West Business Park on 95 acres at Van Buren Street and 83rd Avenue.

The freeways are prime locations for distribution areas because trucks have easy access and California "just isn't that far away," said John Strittmatter, president/southwest for Ryan.
"You just follow the freeway," Strittmatter said.
Ryan also has a $29 million, 95-acre project at I-17 and Happy Valley Road.
"The Deer Valley market is prime for office development," he added.
Jeff LaPour, founder of the Las Vegas-based LaPour Partners, couldn't agree more.
LaPour is developing 110 acres at I-17 and Loop 101. He plans to build 500,000 square feet of industrial space with about half going to flex space.
"I like Interstate 10, and I like the long-term viability of being on the 101," he said.
LaPour also has an industrial space project on 85 acres in Avondale and owns another 29 acres in Glendale.
